Final Chapter - Bull Elephants

Dear Readers
This post is not for the meek and mild. Â As a follow up on the wounded bull elephant who was shot in the CRC, this was his unfortunate fate. Â I have been working in conservation for the past 15 years and there is nothing that will ever prepare me for this barbaric practice of shooting or poaching wildlife. Â Nothing, can change what has taken place, and there is nothing that can heal these wounds that Zimbabwe is currently experiencing. Â These two majestic elephants who were in the prime of their lives - have been taken by mans greed and lack of ability to see into the future and save something today for tomorrow.
When I was growing up, I heard people talking about the next generation and what they will not get to see in their life time. Â Well it has not even taken a generation to destroy the wildlife as it once was in Zimbabwe. Â Areas, where I use to roam and enjoy the wonders of the wild are now being cleared for agricultural purposes. Â Wildlife that use to graze within meters of a vehicle are now running for cover the minute there is any human presence and sadly the variety of game that used to be seen on any one trip has now gone.
The hardest thing of all to come to terms with, is that this massacre is being allowed to continue. Â Without law and order in Zimbabwe, it will be near impossible to try and stop the poaching. Â I fear that Zimbabwe is a ship in full sail, but alas she has got no rudder!

I certainly feel for you and the country of Zimbabwe - not the idiots that are killing the wildlife. This elephant still has its tusks and looks like no meat was taken. Why in the gosh darn heck (have to censor my words here) was he killed? Just for the sake of killing?

I just donated $40 in memory of Chris Moore, who recently died at the age of 50. He loved animals. Thank you for the work you do in one of the saddest countries in the world.
