Dear Readers

Firstly I would like to thank you all for the incredible words of kindness and sympathies towards the tragic loss of Twiza.  To know that her death was for nothing would just been even harder to bear.  As an outcome to her and her son’s snaring, I had a meeting with our Department of National Parks and Wildlife Authorities, yesterday.  The Department has agreed to giving us another eight to ten game scouts for that area.  Having uniformed National Parks scouts in the area does bring about more respect for the wildlife as well as giving us more clout when going to the police with poachers.

We will keep you up dated with the situation on ground.

Lisa

Hi Lisa, It is encouraging that despite all that is going on in Zimbabwe, at least the Department of Parks is still willing to help. I hope the consequent increase in visibility of the scouts will keep the snaring down.

That’s encouraging news, Lisa. When will the new scouts start patrols? I hope it’s soon because poaching is out of control all over Africa, it seems.

It was great to hear that something good has come out of this awful incident. You really are a brave person and I wish you all the strength in your mission to save the wildlife. Hopefully it helps even a little bit to know that there are people who visit this blog and support your work with all their heart.

Hopefully the giraffe and other animals in the Park will get the protection they deserve. My heart breaks to see animals like Twiza die a senseless death.

I agree with Pirjo. I’m glad something good came out of this very sad and senseless act. All my best to you. Lisa

I hope that having extra rangers will help..I felt I had harsh words on the other blog…but when I saw those pictures..it just infuriated me…..what could a mama giraffe and her baby be doing to deserve just an awful death? Thanks for letting us know!
